How to Make Packing and Family Road Trips Easier

Adults and kids alike get excited as any family trip approaches, especially when you know you’re going to be staying at one of the villas in Kissimmee at Fantasy World. As well as all of the nearby parks and attractions, Fantasy World has its own on-site water park and plenty of other entertainment and amenities. However, that excitement is often tempered by the thought of packing and getting through the travel portion of the trip. Fortunately, there are ways to save space and save some of your sanity with these handy travel hacks.

Whether you want to leave room in your luggage for souvenirs or simply don’t want to go over your luggage allowance, roll your clothing instead of folding it. It may seem counterintuitive at first, but rolled clothing really does take up less room. Plus, when neatly rolled, you usually end up with fewer wrinkles. If you’re still in doubt, check out some instructional videos online or do a trial run. You’ll quickly become a convert.

With the extra space, you’ll also have more room for your shoes. To protect your clothing from dirty shoe soles, enclose them in shower caps or wrap them in plastic grocery bags. Stick an extra plastic bag in to hold dirty laundry when it’s time to pack up at the end of the trip. However, if you stay at one of the Fantasy World villas in Kissimmee, you can always use the washer and dryer in your villa to take care of laundry before you head home. Speaking of laundry, putting a dryer sheet in your luggage will help it stay fresh-smelling.

Travelling with young children can be challenging, especially on longer trips. For plane trips, a binder holding printable games, coloring books, and other fun, contained activities doesn’t take up much space, but still gives your kids plenty of things to keep them entertained. If you’re travelling by car, you have a little more room, which comes in handy on even longer trips. Try hanging a shoe organizer over the back of the front seat and fill the pockets with small toys and games. It’s also a handy place to store hand wipes and individually portioned snacks.

Once you’re at your destination, you can use the USB plug in the back of your TV to charge your phone. Also, while you have free access to wifi, take screenshots of any necessary travel directions. You can then turn off location services and save your phone’s battery. Think of all the extra photos you can take to remember your fantastic vacation!
