Inexpensive Things to Do in Orlando

Inexpensive Things to Do in Orlando
A trip to Orlando and all of its amazing theme parks is a dream come true for many families. However, the costs involved may seem more like a nightmare. As ticket prices, food, souvenirs, rental car, and lodging prices quickly add up, it helps to find a few ways to save some money during your vacation so that you can take in the scenery rather than focusing solely on the dollar signs. Staying at one of the resorts in Kissimmee FL, such as Fantasy World Resort, offers plenty of ways to save money while making the most of Central Florida. Here are some family friendly inexpensive things to do in Orlando!

Florida is known for its oranges and a visit to the Showcase of Citrus is a surprisingly charming and inexpensive way to enjoy a bit of Florida history and fun. There are orange orchards where you can pick your own fruit. You pay for what you pick and they will ship it home for you. There is also a store on site, as well as a play area for kids. You can enjoy a fun morning or afternoon in the sunshine, seeing the groves, and enjoying some deliciously cooling frozen orange juice.

The Ft. Christmas Historical Park is free and a fun way to take in some history. The full-size Fort Christmas has been rebuilt, along with seven restored homes in the area. If the kids have a limit on viewing interesting old buildings, there’s also a playground, as well as picnic pavilions, so you can pack your own lunch and spend a fun afternoon there. Special events are held throughout the year, so check the fort’s website to see what is taking place while you’re there.

Winter Park is a beautiful old college town, home to Rollins College. It also has beautiful streets, full of great shopping and dining. While Park Avenue has some high-end locations, it’s also still fun to window shop or take in some of the more affordable locations. Winter Park is located by Lake Osceola and you can take a variety of affordable boat tours. Take a walk down Park Avenue, stroll through Rollins College, and then finish up at the giant wooden playground for a fun, affordable day out.

Of course, when you’re in Florida, you’re never that far from one of the spectacular white-sand beaches. Daytona Beach, New Smyrna, Clearwater, and Cape Canaveral are all within roughly an hour’s drive from Orlando.

If you want to enjoy sunshine and water, but closer to home, staying at one of the resorts in Kissimme FL, is an outstanding choice. Fantasy World Resort features its own water park with two large pools, three hot tubs, a winding lazy river, two water slides and a kids splash pad. There are also plenty of other on-site attractions and activities to keep the whole family entertained.

There are lots of parks, play areas, zoos, gardens, and a variety of attractions throughout Orlando that are free or affordable, offering plenty of ways to stretch your vacation budget. A Kissimmee resort like Fantasy World also offers additional ways with their amenities and in-suite kitchens. You’ll feel like you’re on a luxury vacation, but without spending a fortune.
