New Vegan Treats at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Many people are making an effort to reduce the amount of meat and other animal products that they are eating. Some follow a vegetarian diet and some follow a purely vegan diet, with most people enjoying having vegetarian and vegan options available in restaurants. For those who are vegan, choices are often limited, but many places are starting to offer a greater variety of foods. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is one such place with some new vegan dishes on their menu. Of course, if you stay at Fantasy World, one of the Kissimmee FL resorts, you have your own full kitchen to further enable you to create your own vegan dishes.

From snack-sized dishes to hunger busters, there are some great new offerings available. One is a quinoa salad with fruits and vegetables and the tasty protein-rich grain, while the other is a plant-based sausage on a bun with delicious toppings.

You’ll find the Kusafiri Quinoa Salad in Africa at the Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery. The salad is priced at $3.79 and starts with a quinoa base, mixed with fresh herbs, dried fruit, and some additional vegetables like peppers and onion for a fresh, delicious salad with texture and taste. The protein-rich quinoa is also likely to give you that extra kick to get through the afternoon or whenever you need a small pick-me-up meal.

If you’re looking for a great lunch or dinner or you’re just plain hungry, head to the Flame Tree Barbecue in Discovery Island. There you can indulge in a delicious Vegan Hot Link Smokehouse Sandwich that is sure to win over vegans and meat-eaters alike. This plant-based sausage is served on a New England-style roll with a zingy mustard barbecue sauce, cole slaw, and crispy onions, all for $10.99.

These are just the latest additions as Disney makes a greater effort to serve a variety of foods to meet different lifestyles. Mickey Pretzels, located throughout the park, are vegan, and various restaurant and snack places typically offer some items that are vegan, though you should always ask to be certain. Among some of the options are the  Sicilian-Style Pizza Slice, and off-menu vegan cheese pizza at Pizzafari in Discovery Island. At Restaurantosaurus, Dinoland USA®, you’ll find the Spicy Southwestern Burger, Onion Jam, and “Gouda” Burger. Finally, if you’re looking for table service, Tiffins at Discovery Island has a fairly large selection of vegan dishes, including North African Spiced Tofu and Seasonal Vegetable and Tomato Chutney, Tinga Taco, Passion Fruit Tapioca Creme, and Kids Bunny Chow.

There are plenty of other vegan options, although it’s always best to ask, unless it’s clearly marked and you’ll find plenty of websites that list vegan options at all of the parks. It’s becoming much easier to eat vegan at Animal Kingdom and the other Disney parks. Plus, if you book one of the vacation villas at Fantasy World, one of the Kissimmee FL resorts, you can make the most of their kitchen and grocery delivery service to create your own meals to round out the day or even to take with you and enjoy at the parks. Your vacation just got easier and tastier!
