There’s nothing like a vacation to relax, experience new adventures, try different food – and totally get out of your exercise routine. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get some good workouts in at one of the Kissimmee resorts of your choice. Here are some tips to help you stay in shape while on vacation:
- Plan for a different routine. It’s going to be difficult to maintain the same exercise schedule you do at home. Consider the various attractions you want to enjoy and build some workout time into your vacation plan.
- Take advantage of available amenities. Kissimmee resorts like Fantasy World have an abundance of amenities that you can use to exercise, including two pools, a fully-equipped fitness center and more.
- Put motion on your agenda. Central Florida has a wide range activities that include various degrees of motion, from minimal to aerobic. You can get a pretty good workout just walking through the theme parks. If that’s not enough, play golf or tennis, ride a bike, skate, dance, Fantasy Surf or enjoy some of the other water sports offered on nearby lakes and rivers.
- Go shopping. Okay, it might not be the most intense aerobic activity, but you can make it count by walking fast, taking stairs instead of elevators or escalators and avoiding the high-calorie goodies at food courts.
If you’re thinking you might want to take a vacation from exercise, consider this: It’s not fair, but the reality is that the fitter you are, the faster you lose your fitness. You’ll lose aerobic capacity faster than muscular strength; your aerobic power can decline as much as 5-10 percent in three weeks without working out.
