If you haven’t been to Central Florida, Kissimmee may be nothing more than a place with a funny name — the locals will probably correct your pronunciation — but it’s actually a great place to make your base when visiting the area. It’s close enough to the theme parks and other big-name attractions, but there’s also plenty to enjoy right in Kissimmee, thanks to local nature and adventures. Drawing on the themes of Jurassic Park, this stomach-dropping, heart-swallowing ride will catapult you more than 150 feet in the air at 70 mph as you speed around this roller coaster that incorporates a new story that includes original cast members. It’s supposed to be Florida’s fastest and tallest launch coaster, so do try to keep your eyes open so you don’t miss the dinosaurs!

However, it has competition from SeaWorld, in the form of another launch coaster, Ice Breaker. You not only have four launches that give you plenty of airtime, but you also go backward and forward! There’s even a reverse launch that goes into the steepest vertical drop in the state. With a 93-foot-tall drop at a 100-degree angle, this is definitely not for the faint of heart! But adrenaline junkies will love it!

If you’re looking for something a little calmer, LEGOLAND is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. They have plans for the world’s biggest cake, along with plenty of special weekend events throughout the year, including new stage shows and 4-D movies.

However, don’t forget that Florida has plenty of amazing natural flora and fauna, native and not so native. Make sure you include a trip to Wild Florida and experience the Drive-thru Safari Park. They’ve added 185 acres to the safari and have new exotic and native animals at the park, which have been newly rescued and relocated to the park. It’s hard not to be awed by some of these amazing animals.

Finally, check out ICON Park. For those looking for more thrills, there’re the latest additions of ICON Park Drop Tower and ICON Park Slingshot. There’s also In The Game, a virtual experience that  transforms an arcade into an immersive experience that is great for the whole family. Finally, there’s the new Museum of Illusions with fun and fantastic holograms, interactive immersive experiences and much more.
